David focuses on maritime law, railroad law (FELA) and aviation law. He represents injured offshore oil workers, seaman, and railroad workers. He has successfully handled cases involving injuries and death as a result of aircraft and helicopter crashes.

David has been with the Provost Umphrey Law Firm as an attorney since 1991. He is certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is licensed to practice before the state courts in Texas, Louisiana and Ohio as well as the U.S. District courts of the Eastern, Southern, Northern, and Western Districts of Texas, the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Coushatta Tribal Court.
David also has been admitted pro hac vice in state and federal courts throughout the country including Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, Alabama, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee.
A member of the State Bar of Texas, College of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, State Bar Of Louisiana, Louisiana Association of Justice, Jefferson County Bar Association, Port Arthur Bar Association (past President), the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys (ARLA), David served eight years in the United States Air Force. Before becoming a lawyer, he had a successful career as a television journalist.
David was born in Bay City, Texas. He graduated from Lamar University with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice in 1975 and received his law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas in 1990.
