The 4th Annual Texas State Sporting Clay Charity Shoot and Get Youth Outdoors Day, presented by Provost Umphrey Law Firm, LLP, in collaboration with the Union Sportsmen Alliance (USA), concluded with resounding success April 2024.
This year’s charity shoot, which took place on Friday, April 25th, 2024, in Lumberton, TX at the One in One Hundred Gun Club, saw an unprecedented turnout, with participation almost doubling compared to last year, marking a significant milestone in the initiative’s growth and impact. Participants enjoyed a day of camaraderie and sport, contributing to the overall mission of supporting America’s rich outdoor heritage. Funds raised by this shoot benefit the Union Sportsman Alliance, whose mission is to educate, conserve, and volunteer in communities across the United States.
Additionally, on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, children aged 9 to 15 flooded the scenic grounds of the One in One Hundred Gun Club, eager to immerse themselves in a day filled with fun and learning about the great outdoors. From refining casting skills to engaging in hands-on sessions in sporting clays shooting and archery, young participants were guided by local volunteers, ensuring a safe and enriching experience for all. As always, there was an emphasis on safety, education, and proper handling of equipment during these activities.
“We are elated by the incredible turnout for this year’s charity shoot and Get Youth Outdoors Day. It’s truly rewarding to see the kids not just mastering new skills, but also experiencing new things,” says Joe Fisher, Managing Partner at Provost Umphrey Law Firm.
This year marks the firm’s 55th anniversary, and events like this highlight the founding partner’s deep appreciation for the outdoors. “Walter Umphrey was passionate about the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman, and so this event is really continuing his legacy and is an extension of his vision and the way he enjoyed life,” Fisher added.
Attendees were treated to a complimentary luncheon and had the chance to win exciting door prizes. A total of 3 hunting trips and 2 fishing trips were awarded, alongside other prizes such as a Lifetime Texas Hunting License and a variety of hunting and fishing gear.
“It’s our opportunity to give back to the community that has given so much to us and give young people the opportunity to do things they may not have otherwise done,” says Sean Villery-Samuel, attorney at Provost Umphrey Law Firm, who has volunteered for Get Youth Outdoors Day for several years in a row.
“Great partners like Provost Umphrey, and dedicated union volunteers who traveled from all over the country came together to make this event successful. Kids were smiling and having a blast. We are hopeful this day lights a spark that creates a new generation of men and women in the outdoors. That is what it is all about,” said Cody Campbell, Conservation Coordinator for the Union Sportsmen Alliance.
The collaborative efforts of Provost Umphrey Law Firm, LLP, and the Union Sportsmen Alliance continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of young outdoor enthusiasts, ensuring that the legacy of conservation and outdoor recreation thrives for generations to come.
