At the beginning of this month, Provost Umphrey Law Firm proudly hosted the 6th Annual Get Youth Outdoors Day, bringing together families from across Southeast Texas for a day focused on outdoor recreation, education, and community connection. This year’s event marked a major milestone, welcoming the largest number of youth participants and clay shoot competitors since the event began six years ago.
From the first event to now, Get Youth Outdoors Day has continued to grow into something truly special for our community. Seeing so many children and families come together to enjoy the outdoors, learn new skills, and spend meaningful time with one another made this year’s event one to remember.
“It’s probably my favorite day of the year. To see the smiling faces, and they get to learn… and it means a lot to share my knowledge of the outdoors and to provide a venue and place that kids can come out and experience the outdoors,” says Joe Fisher, equity partner at Provost Umphrey Law Firm, who has championed this event and won awards for his work in this area over the years.
The overwhelming turnout reflects the strong support this event has received from local families, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners who share our commitment to encouraging youth involvement in outdoor activities. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s event such a success, especially our partners at the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance, whose continued support, expertise, and guidance help youth participants grow in both their knowledge of and appreciation for the outdoors year after year.

A special thank you goes to our community partners, such as One in One Hundred Gun Club and the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance supporters, whose generosity and participation continue to help this event grow year after year. Their dedication allows us to create opportunities for young people to experience outdoor traditions in a safe, welcoming, and family-friendly environment.
“It’s just a wonderful way to get kids outside, get them away from screens for a little bit, and hopefully find a new passion in them for getting outdoors,” says Maggie Sager, Conservation Coordinator for the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance.
We also want to thank the many families who continue to support Get Youth Outdoors Day and make it a part of their year. Watching returning participants bring younger siblings and friends each year is a reminder of the positive impact this event continues to have throughout Southeast Texas.
“If one kid or one family takes up the outdoor lifestyle, the whole event’s worthwhile,” Fisher stated.
At Provost Umphrey Law Firm, we believe strong communities are built through connection, mentorship, and investing in future generations. Events like Get Youth Outdoors Day are one of the many ways we are proud to give back to the communities we serve.
As we celebrate another successful year, we are already looking forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better. Thank you again to everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, and supported the 6th Annual Get Youth Outdoors Day. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
