Lawsuit Filed on Behalf of 13-Year-Old Serenity “Ren” Rivera
Provost Umphrey Law Firm has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of 13-year-old Serenity “Ren” Rivera following a tragic Southeast Texas auto accident that claimed the lives of both Serenity and her mother, Meagan Martin.
The lawsuit, filed at the end of April by Serenity’s father, alleges the fatal crash was caused by an intoxicated driver and seeks accountability for the devastating losses suffered by the family. The fatal collision occurred in March on State Highway 62 near the Jasper and Newton County line.
“This lawsuit is about seeking justice for a family whose lives were forever changed by an alleged intoxicated driving crash,” said Matthew Matheny, equity partner at Provost Umphrey Law Firm and lead attorney on this case. “No family should have to experience this kind of preventable tragedy.”
The wrongful death lawsuit seeks damages related to the deaths of Serenity Rivera and Meagan Martin, along with the emotional and financial impact the crash has had on surviving family members.
Southeast Texas Wrongful Death and Drunk Driving Accident Cases
Drunk driving crashes continue to cause devastating injuries and fatalities across Southeast Texas, including communities throughout Beaumont, Jasper County, Newton County, Hemphill, and surrounding areas. When impaired driving results in the loss of life, Texas law allows surviving family members to pursue wrongful death claims against those responsible.
Wrongful death lawsuits may provide compensation for funeral expenses, emotional suffering, loss of companionship, and other damages caused by fatal auto accidents involving negligent or intoxicated drivers.
For more than 55 years, Provost Umphrey attorneys have represented families throughout Southeast Texas in major and minor auto accident, drunk driving, and wrongful death cases.
